Mashad
The city of Meshad, situated in the province of Khorassan, has played a significant role as a gathering place for carpets from the whole of East Persia. During the 17th century the manufacturing of carpets was resumed in the city under the influence of merchants from Tabriz; clearly visible in the designs, almost always consisting of a medallion with corner ornaments in the blue-red and red nuances that are typical for the city. The wool from this area is easy to recognize since it´s very soft. Both the Senneh- and Ghiordes knots are being used.
